They're remodeling the pool area...well at least re-lining it in time for summer.

BK~Where I had my meeting

Years ago, I helped open this Burger King. When the construction was complete but nothing was yet put in (no equipment,no furniture...nothing) we began holding interviews to hire and train for this new store. It was here where I experienced the day of the Northridge quake. Like many around us,we lost power on our block. Me and the other manager went to go work at one of the two BKs in our district that still had power to help with the massive flow of customers coming in. So many people lined up and out the door. We shut the drive thru because we couldn't keep up. We had food product transferred in from the stores that were closed because we wanted to serve as many as we could and not let the product go to waste at the same time. It was an amazing scene...with lines of people,burgers and fries everywhere, and aftershocks.

...I passed one of the many churches along Montrose. And this apartment complex...it seems to have stairways that lead nowhere...reminds me of M.C. Escher artwork.

Oh Jasmine...

...this isn't your dinner plate. Jasmine sometimes likes to sit on my chair to see if what I'm eating is going to be anything she'd like. Sometimes my cats forget they're cats and not people. :)

the rose downstairs

I think I'm going to try to keep with the color vs b&w theme for the week. Each foto is taken shortly after the other. This is a rose bush downstairs. It hasn't bloomed yet...I'll probably revisit it in the months to come and see how it's doing. The roses...actually all the flowers in the complex...usually come in real nice.

Overcast and a little rain

I wanted to play with the black&white mode this week...see how the images come out. The overcast made it a good day to have fun with b&w versus color. The pictures are taken a few seconds apart (that's another yellow light lol).

Today at the farmers market they had the petting zoo (those are baby goats!).
I usually look through the plants and flowers section. There was a new set of stands of plants. In this shot, different types of mint leaves are on the top. The empty row on the top is where the Mojito Mint leaves from Cuba would've been. They're sold out...go figure. :)

battery #3

Had to go to Sprint again to get another battery for my phone. It drains too quickly for not being in use and then had problems charging. If this battery doesn't solve the problem...I'm going to have to swap phones. Ugh

...in 4 games! Now off for a week until we play Phoenix.

Had lunch with mom on Mother's day. My folks, my brothers, and oh so cute Myles were there.

Lakers beat Utah...

...in game 3. Lakers are winning series 3-0. Now watching SNL with Betty White. Too funny.

Today, some of the first few postcards started making its way to those I sent them out to. These are 2 that I sent to myself as well to test out the process. (sent them all out Mon May 3rd, and they're starting to arrive today-including the one to the NL!)

Warm apple crumb cake batter with vanilla ice cream and topped with caramel and almond crumb! So easy and just the right amount. (can be found in the frozen section at your local supermarket for less then $3 for 2 lol)

Swapped mobile phone fotos with my brother and mom over lunch. This is one of the boys being silly.

mike&vanessa's engagement party

Had a great time at mike and vanessa's engagement party. Watched the end of the Laker game with the family, ate some good food and cake, and had some great conversations.

On my way to my folks...

...I usually come most of the way down Route 66. This was taken on Alosta as you go under the railroad tracks and then pass Compromise Line Road.
